Just some notes used to reply to a YouTube commenter

Prayer; does it work or just feel good?  Jesus is clear that we cannot believe in Him on our own. The Father has to reveal The Son to us, if we are to know Him at all and especially if we are to know the Truth about who He is as The Son of God and God Himself ie, The Second Person of The Holy Trinity.  Every time I read these passages, I am reminded of those I know and love who do not believe, and all of those who are in power that do not believe in Jesus. I also think these passages reveal a lot more than just believing that Jesus exists in heaven or existed as a man once 2,000 years ago.  These passages at that same time give me hope and fear. I am hopefully because I must Trust that our Heavenly Father will reveal His Son to those who are worthy of such a gift, but fear because I know that The Father will not draw everyone to His Son.   This particular YouTube commenter said this to me... @bestlifenow777  yea i'll just quote David McAfee "Prayer doesn’t work. Perhaps it mak

Christians be sober and vigilant

Wow!  Love the New Testament Epistles, powerful, practical, instructional information we all need. Every time I read them I am renewed!   ── ⋆⋅☆⋅⋆ ── So I exhort the presbyters among you, as a fellow presbyter and witness to the sufferings of Christ and one who has a share in the glory to be revealed. Tend the flock of God in your midst, [overseeing] not by constraint but willingly, as God would have it, not for shameful profit but eagerly. Do not lord it over those assigned to you, but be examples to the flock. And when the chief Shepherd is revealed, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. Likewise, you younger members, be subject to the presbyters. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility in your dealings with one another, for: “God opposes the proud but bestows favor on the humble." So humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time. Cast all your worries upon him because he cares for you. Be sober and vigilant. Your opponent the

Love is Patient, Love is kind

1   Corinthians   4-7 “Love is patient, love is kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance."

Pope Francis, The Church and us

Image
For this post I wanted to talk a little bit about Pope Francis our current Holy Father since 2015.   If you are on social media at all, chances are you have seen some of the criticism. Certainly the Catholic Church has a lot of critics, likewise the office of Bishop of Rome aka Pope (no matter who is seated at the time) also has a lot of critics. I am sure some more than others at times, but people will always find a problem no matter what. And some people just hate everything Catholic and will never even read one word of anything I personally write let alone The Church.  This post is not to defend mistakes made by Pope Francis, or to say he is a perfect man who can do no wrong. It would be wrong for us to assume that the Pope is perfect and impeccable. And in fact, the Church does not teach that! We follow Christ who is perfect and who founded His Catholic Church starting with Peter and the Apostles. Who told us that His Church would be guided by The Holy Spirit! Long story short we t

Sunday Angelus of the holy father 11/12/2023

Amen!  Yes let us have this type of compassion and empathy for one another. To see each other's heart, to see the light in the eyes of others, not just focusing on the negative things in all of our lives, but the good that comes from Christ!  All good comes from Christ.  Let us stop and listen in the silence of our hearts. Let us ask God "Lord how can I serve others today?"  Read this Sunday's Angelus here   Thank you and God bless!  Please follow for more. JU Books by me  Visit my Store  What do Catholics Believe?

Kempis on: Acquiring Peace and Zeal for Perfection

John 14:7 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you.  Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. I'd like to begin by asking something of you. A little exercise if you will.  Before you read any further, I would like you to close your eyes and think of a time, place and instant where you were at total peace. Have you thought about it? Now, reflect on it for a few moments.  Think about everything around you at that moment in time where nothing mattered but serenity.    Last October 13, 2022, I went to the hospital for a fusion of my L3, L4 vertebrae. The procedure was supposed to last about 75 minutes. When I woke up in recovery I was confused when I looked at the clock and saw it was 6pm. "6pm?" I asked. "How long was my surgery?" I was then informed it was a 6 and 1/2 hour surgery. There is no need to bore you with details as to the reason, but I was shocked. I immediately wiggled my toes and moved my arms, a
